Complex extension to a Grade II listed building in green belt. The project was difficult in planning terms as a significant extension had been refused by Barnet council. The project brief was to create a large open-plan kitchen/dining/living area for a family. The property was over 6,000 sq. ft. in total but the existing kitchen was small and separate from the dining room. Working with the architect and engineer we designed a scheme that created a large open space across the rear of the property, taking advantage of the lovely views. A small extension squared off the space and three rooms were combined to create a magnificent kitchen with a large L-shaped island and walk-in pantry, a dining area suitable for a large table, and a family TV room with an L-shaped sofa and chairs. The scheme created a kitchen that was worthy of the property and meant the dining room, previously rarely used, became an integral part of the living space. The flow of the house was significantly improved.
